Art and Sheila were both raised in Clarksville, Tennessee, but several years after being married moved away to serve in various places of ministry including West Virginia, Florida, and Pennsylvania. Art has spent much of his adult life in Christian education, teaching at two Christian schools and two Christian colleges. Art and Sheila have been married since 1980 and have two grown children, Erica and Justin, and three grandchildren.
Recently Art retired from the University of Tennessee at Martin where he taught courses in public speaking, rhetoric, and business communication. Besides holding a PhD in communication, he recently completed a Masters of Arts degree from Reformed Theological Seminary. He is the author of two books and numerous articles, often writing about Christianity and cultural issues. Some of his work appears in Touchstone magazine. He has also lectured at the Swiss and the English L’Abris, founded by Francis and Edith Schaeffer.
Art and Sheila live in Bartlett, Tennessee, and are members of Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church. For fun Art enjoys reading, biking, and taking long walks in the woods.
