Dr. Jim and Shari Whittle

Country Director, South Asia / Director of Strategic Planning

Shari and Jim both grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and first met at Centre College of Kentucky in 1979. In 1981 we married and moved to Atlanta to finish school—Shari getting a BSN at Emory University and Jim earning a Bachelors in Applied Math from Centre and Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech. Jim has 2 graduate degrees and has worked in several churches. Shari is a retired Home Hospice Nurse. We have been married over 40 years, with 5 children and 14 grandchildren.

Jim joined the staff of ELI in 2012. He focuses on training and equipping leaders in South Asia. We believe in training and multiplying national leaders who train others. This is the pathway that most strengthens local communities and organizations.

Jim’s personal interests include mystery novels, playing the piano, watching professional sports, watching Netflix, feeding the deer in our woods, and enjoying the monthly family birthday parties. Shari is also a reader, enjoys the Hallmark channel, feeds the birds, and loves being the Nana.
