Mike grew up in a Christian home hearing the stories of the Bible and experiencing Church life from an early age. As a pastor’s son, he saw the ups and downs of Christian ministry first-hand. This close connection to pastoral ministry has fueled a lifelong love for pastors. In his early 20s, Mike experienced a renewal of his faith in Christ, which the Holy Spirit has faithfully sustained and increased.
Mike met his wife, Tina, while in high school in Ohio. They began dating several years after graduation and married in 1994. Shortly after completing his Masters in Music Education, Mike and Tina moved to Virginia to begin a career as a saxophonist with the U.S. Air Force bands.
While stationed in Virginia, Mike was ordained as a Ruling Elder in the PCA. Mike and Tina have been involved in several church plants throughout their marriage. Their desire is to see the Kingdom grow in visible ways that encourage the Body of Christ to hold fast to the teaching of Scripture, keep their eyes fixed on Christ, and maintain an eternal perspective on life in this world.
Mike retired from the Air Force Academy Band in 2018 and once again began to sense the call to care for and equip pastors for ministry. ELI’s focus on equipping indigenous church leaders for faithful ministry fulfills a lifelong sense of calling for Mike.
