We are absolutely delighted and humbled to be part of the ELI team as this culminates a career of investing in church leadership in a way we could never have anticipated. We are also pretty anxious as well, I may add. For 30 years we have served in two Associate Reformed Presbyterian churches, the latter for the past 28 years where we were the church planters. These have been years wonderful beyond our wildest dreams where the Lord has blessed us with three sons (Paul, Matthew, and Mark – all of whom are married, we now have six grandchildren with another coming in October). We have loved seeing God’s grace at work in so many along the way and we hope and pray to see His grace use us to teach, encourage, counsel, and simply love His people globally as the Lord directs our steps.
Brenda brings her love for people and is a gifted teacher. She works as a registered nurse, loves to travel, speaks good Spanish, and has a passion for reaching out to lost and disenfranchised people of all ages and cultures.
I was a firefighter/paramedic in Miami, FL (my hometown) just after high school for about 10 years and later learned carpentry while working my way through seminary at Columbia International University here in SC. I still enjoy fixing all things broken. I should also admit that I love tools and woodworking.
I have what some would call an unusual capacity for learning languages and genuinely enjoy learning about the various cultures of world. Above all- we love the gospel of Jesus Christ and the grace He has so abundantly lavished on us. Galatians 2:20 constantly serves to challenge and bless us as we follow the leading of Jesus Christ in our lives.
