Steve grew up in Jackson Mississippi and trusted Christ as his Savior during his college years at Mississippi State University. The Lord used Campus Crusade for Christ to share the gospel with him, and he subsequently joined Crusade’s staff serving in the International Accounting office in California. While on Crusade staff he met Gloria, who has been by his side for 45 years.
Steve has a ThM degree (Semitics and Old Testament Studies) from Dallas Theological Seminary, served a short season as a pastor, and has enjoyed brief stints teaching the Bible in various locations. In 2013 he met Chuck McArthur while they were teaching summer classes at the Africa Bible College in Liberia. Chuck subsequently became the Executive Director of ELI, and they have kept in close contact ever since. Most recently Steve retired after serving 25 years as the managing partner of his family’s timber business in Mississippi.
He and Gloria have three adult children who are serving the Lord in various capacities and six wonderful grandchildren. They have been involved in supporting students in Liberia with tuition assistance, and Steve is excited to be serving as Scholarship Coordinator of ELI’s new scholarship ministry.
