“Deep and wide, deep and wide, there’s a fountain flowing deep and wide…”
This simple children’s hymn echoed in my mind last week as we taught a Biblical Theology course in Cajabamba, Ecuador. The words beautifully reflect what we experienced: God’s redemptive plan stretches across history and reaches deeply into our hearts.

As we traced the storyline of Scripture from Genesis to Revelation, we kept our eyes on Jesus—the Servant King at the center of it all. We were moved by the depth of grace shown through God’s covenant promises, which have unfolded through generations and find their fulfillment in Christ. We rejoiced in the mercy of a God who not only designed our salvation, but also signed and sealed it to our lives by His Spirit.

The course stretched and strengthened the pastors’ understanding of Scripture. One pastor shared, “Though the teaching was new to me, it strengthened my faith, blessing and motivating me.” The Lord was faithful to answer your prayers, filling our time with joy—even in the midst of deep theological questions.

Here are just a few reflections shared by the pastors:

“Thank you for explaining baptism and the covenants”

“I want to learn more about the Kingdom of God and baptism”

“I enjoyed studying the covenants of the Old and New Testament, and what Christ did for us.”

New Connections in the Mountains

Although our plans to meet with Pastor Jorge’s group in Licto were delayed, the Lord led us to a new opportunity. We traveled to the mountain community of San Francisco de Bishud, where we worshiped with Pastor Francisco’s congregation and met with local leaders. They expressed a strong desire to be equipped and to help train other rural pastors in their region. Please pray for wisdom and direction as we consider future ELI training with these leaders.

Rescate Ecuador: A Holistic Ministry

Our national partners in Cajabamba continue to lead a powerful, holistic ministry called Rescate Ecuador. In addition to after-school tutoring, vocational training, and pastoral development, God has provided three incredible volunteers:

Dr. Jessica, a medical doctor

Genny, a nurse

A local dentist

These volunteers will now offer free medical and dental care every Sunday—demonstrating the love of Christ through both word and deed.

Please join us in thanking God for this provision, and pray for the resources needed—medicine, equipment, and ongoing support—so this ministry can continue to serve and point people to Jesus.

Thank you for your continued prayers and support. God’s grace is truly flowing deep and wide in Ecuador.
